Savannah personality and care: Savannahs have a doglike personality. They are intensely loving and affectionate, intelligent, curious, playful, athletic, and energetic. Savannahs love to chase after and jump for their toys, and splash and play in water. Savannahs especially love to dunk and chase their toys or other objects in water. Many savannahs will jump in the bath tub or shower with family members. Savannahs do well walking outside on harnesses and leashes if they are trained on them gradually or while young.

Savannahs do very well on premium brands of cat foods (Natural Balance, Science Diet, Nutro, to name a few), require routine veterinary exams and vaccinations, and use a litterbox like any other domestic cat. As with any domestic cat, many intact savannahs spray urine to mark their territory. So pets should be spayed or neutered at 4-5 months of age, well before sex hormones begin to rise in adolescence.
